A compliment to all Pelicans... and Wayne
Just wanted to give a compliment to all the Pelicans here. As an owner of a 1990 Nissan 300ZX since 2002, I have used a similar message board. If you ask a question there that has been answered before, the only response you get is :"SEARCH".
Pelicans go out of their way to find you threads and post it in the response with no condescending attitude to go with it. When Porsches are discussed and people say "It's not just the cars, it's the people" they were not kidding. I thank all of you and am glad I bought an '85 Carrera. Also, when I got the Porsche, I went to Amazon.com to order a Haynes manual. While searching, I found Wayne's 101 Projects book. I bought it also. As soon as they both arrived, I quickly determined that the Haynes manual was useless. But Wayne's book has at least 5 projects I as a new owner am willing to tackle in the next few weeks (engine lid struts, highbeam stalk, valve adjustment, wires, cap, and rotor, and I'm going back and forth deciding about H4s). I just very recently learned that Wayne is our host. So Wayne: great book, great message board, and great website. Your shipping is fast, prices are reasonable, and Pelicans are courteous and knowledgeable. To Wayne and all the Pelicans, keep up the great work. You all make owning a Porsche even better. Though I still enjoy driving my "Z", I must say that I am proud to now be a Pelican.

Yes this is a great board and Wayne is an awesome host. There are douche nozzles here also. Of course that's in every aspect of life.
Welcome to the board ![]()

Glad you're enjoying the Porsche experience. You may try the Bentley manual. It ain't perfect, but it's pretty helpful and does cover a lot of stuff. The Haynes is indeed useless.

Hi
|
Welcome, Dave.
Congrats on your purchase of an 85 Carrera. There are a lot of knowledgeable people here and you'll find that we are very fond of photos; so photos of your P-car would be nice. Also if you're looking for a good manual for your car look into Bentley manuals. Larry

I've spent some time on a few other car boards and this is, by FAR, the most helpful, civilized one i've found. I never feel reluctant to ask a question, although i'll so a search first, but if that does not work I know I can count on this group to help.

Nice compliment to everyone but have you spent any time in PARF, that's the other side of the coin.
![]() Just don't mention black Audi's, PCA or "RGroup" and you should be safe. Everything else is fair game. |

I too have been on other boards, and this one has by far been the most helpful in time of need. And after searching the web for hours for better quality parts at better prices.....I come back here to purchase cause there ain't a better place to shop all things considered..
