911SC 83 US turn signal vs Euro turn signal
Hello 911 Folk,
I have a US 911 SC that need to converted to Euro 911 SC requirement. The US Version has the yellow side markers and the and the parking light in the bumper. Question: Is in the front parking light only one bulb that is used parking light and turn signal as well. The Euro Version has no parking light at all and the parking lights in the front lights. Any ID how to do the convertion? BR Bob |

Just to clarify, the US cars have two sets of orange lenses up front - the side marker lights and the turn signals. The Euro cars have one set of orange lenses for the turn signals. Rather than using the orange side marker lights the Euro cars have small bulbs for parking lights located in the headlight housing. Do a search on "city lights" and you will find some threads on this. From memory one describes how to convert your US wiring to connect the Euro "city lights" assuming you have also installed a set of H4 headlights.

Dear All,
does someone has the 83SC euro schematic? Attached the schematic of the 83 911SC US wiring of the turn signal. Turn signal contact to Fuse 10 (5A) from there it goes Turn signal front and then it is grounding parking light and headlight. Does it meam that I have two light bulbs behind the turn signal lens? I am looking for a picture of the inner part of the front & rear lenses ![]() BR bob |

Maybe you can help to tell me what behind the turn signal glass.
I assume this picture here shows the parking light? How about the turn signal light? Two bulb or a double wire bulb. ![]() ![]() BR Bob |

The European light system is as kiwiokie states. However, the name of the different lights differs from different places in Europe.
The main functions from the different lights are: Yellow lights: Only the two front, wellow lights are used. The side ones are replaced by a rubber strip. In the two remaining lights only the 21W fillament is used as indicators. Disconect the cable to the 5W fillament. Some countries demanded an additional indicator on the side of the car, rear of the front axle. White light: In addition to the high/low beam in the headlight, a 5W bulb is used for parking lights. They are activated, with instruments lights and rear lights, on the first step of the light switch. In Norway they are called parking lights as they are not allowed to be used when driving. Other countries have different regulations, and names, regarding their use. I think the cable for this bulb is present behind the headlight even in US cars. I have seen several solutions of converting US cars to European standards. Several countries have relaxed the demands for cars coming back to Europe. I have seen several cars with the side yellow light conncted as an indicator instead of having one on the side of the car. It avoids havng to drill holes in the fenders.

I have an 82 911SC Euro that I've just replaced the front bumper with an RSR like fiberglass piece. The bumper has only one opening for turn signal/driving/marker light. The car had a front turn signal and a side marker light. I think that is the standard for US cars.
So, do I run with just the turn signals and no side marker/driving light? Or, is there an assembly with either two bulbs or a double filament bulb that I can connect both the marker leads and the turn signal leads? Or, is that a way to combine the marker leads and turn signal leads to make a marker light that blinks when the turn signal is hit? I don't have another US car to determine how it works. It seems like I'm stuck between countries with no way to turn. |
