Any comments about Monty mufflers. Seems like a compact unit and well made from the pic's on their site.

I had one for a while on a previous 3.2 (dual in, single 3" out), and was very pleased. It appeared to be built to very high quality standards, and used high grade Stainless steel. It also had a great deep tone. I also liked the fact that it didn't have any fancy rolled lip tip, just the bare straight pipe look.

I'd say it depends a lot on your model/year of P car. The word on MFI cars, especially the S models is to avoid Monty muffler...gives a flat spot in the torque curve or something. Stock gives better performance, in other words.

Does MFI refer to Motronic Fuel Injection? I didn't know S models came with this system, mine is an '87.

Mechanical Fuel Injection (pre-'73.5).
Proper back presure is critical for the MFI system to work properly. |

I had a Monty on a 73S a few years ago. Took it off 2 weeks later. It's really a bad match in my opinion. The flat spot started at 3800 and stopped about 4500. Nice after that, however. And the sound was great. I suppose it would work if you were willing to drive >5000 rpm all the time.
Not pratical in my opinion. Save the Monty for 3 liters or more. Bruce Herrmann 73911S |

Thoughts on using the Monty on a rebuilt 2.7 w/carbs & E-cams & SSI. The sound of them on a stock 3.0 made my pants feel tight............Ron
