Whats the connection between high beam switch and car alarm?

My high beams have been flickering lately and I am aware of the problem. Instead of them flickering when in the low beam setting, I have been leaving them on the high beams for the little night driving I do. The car sits so low that this isn't much of a problem. Tonight, I pulled them back and I guess my car alarm (or some other horn other then the steering wheel horn came on and stayed on until I disconnected the battery. Anybody else have the same problem or know how these are interrelated?

Ok, after I disconnected the battery to turn off the alarm it was able to reset and not go off. When I pulled the headlight switch to try the lights, the alarm went off again and stayed on until pulling the neg terminal. Bueller? Anyone?
