CV sounds likely, unbolt the CV, clean and check for wear. Have a couple of spare bolts handy.

If you look under there and see the boot is torn, you can just about be sure the joint is toast. There are a lot of Pelicans in Houston, someone might donate an experienced eyeball.

Grab the axle firmly next to the CV joint and yank it back and forth and up and down. Any movement in the axle - at either end - the joint that end is toast, no question.

You sometimes find no play if the wheels are off the ground, and play when they are (different area of the bearing in use) might want to check both ways. Most wear will occur in the normal position - i.e. with the wheels on the ground, fully-loaded.

My advice? Replace the axles complete unless you enjoy having moly grease up to your elbows for hours on end... If one is toast, odds are high the others are not far behind.

Many good threads on the correct fixing methods for the axles here, be careful removing the bolts or it can get unpleasant. There's even some snazzy new locking bolts.
