WOW!!! New 3.0L Cases are $5300!!!

Hey, why am I telling you this? To point out our new engine section. We have EVERY single part for the 1974-89 911 engine in our new catalog sections.

Need that small stud that holds on one of the front chain covers? It's there! How about the cam chain wheel pin? It's there too!

In preparation for the release of my next book, we've documented all the parts, gaskets, studs, and nuts in the 911 engine.

Check it out, it speaks for itself:

And how about the rear decklid emblem that consisted of the chrome numerals 911 with an underscore inscribed with "30 Jahre?"

Build a new OEM 3.0 Cost?

Has anyone yet calculated how much it would cost (in parts) to build a truly new 3.0 buying the new OEM parts from Pelican?

I can start the list:

1) 3.0 Case: 5381.00
2) 3.0 Crank: 4088.71
3) Connecting Rods, 6 @ $210 per: 1260.00
4) Flywheel: 175.00
5) Int. Shaft Assembly (Size 0): 490.00
6) Int. Gear (Size 0): 149.00
7) Heads for '81-'83, 6 @ $1240.00 per: 7440.00
8) P/Cs: No Prices Listed Yet
9) Exhaust Valves, 6 @ 52.70 per: 316.20
10) Intake Valves, 6 @ 33.00 per: 198.00
11) Cam Left: 770.65
12) Cam Right: 770.65
13) Cam Tower: 2 @ 1262.00: 2524.00

Still need intake cam covers, exhaust cam covers, chain boxes, etc.!

Items 1-13 give a running total of $23,563.21 !

Any one care to finish the 'Fresh, OEM 3.0 Build" cost list?

Maybe it is cheaper to just buy a complete, fresh OEM 3.0 from the Factory?

Regards,

Kurt

Kurt - Ouch!

Wayne - Why the omission of the early 2 liter engines pre-74?
I assume most things are the same or there are updated equivalents but I am curious why the early cars are not included.

Looking forward to seeing the new book.

You'll notice that this is in our 1974-89 section, which is what we're working on right now. We'll get to the early 911s later on, and my new book will have all the specs and part numbers too.

It will also have all the tech info that's contained in the now out-of-print tech spec books (pertaining to the engine, not suspension, brakes, etc...).

We're working on the exterior trim section next, and then the misc section, which will probably have cab top parts...

It is very impressive. You're creating a one-of-a-kind Porsche knowledge base.

How many of these crankcases do you plan to have in stock? I want to know that if I need one overnight I can get it here real fast.

Also I'm still waiting for you to add 12 cylinder boxer engine parts to your website. I'm looking to complete my 917 engine project but I don't have any of the parts yet.
