Do any of you guys buy your motor oil online?

Mobil 1 15w-50 is getting stupid expensive and hard to find. Wal-Mart used to have the 5 qt. jugs for $23.50. No more. The single qt. bottles are $7 now. WTF? I wouldn't mind going with Brad Penn, but it doesn't grow on trees either. Where is the best place to buy oil online and with reasonable shipping costs?

I used to get mine from the man, Charles Navarro of LN Engineering, one of our resident tribologists/oil gurus. osCommerce

Then I found out my favorite local mechanic stocks it so it was easier than shipping from Illinois. The price from Charles was very reasonable, even including shipping.

Go to the Brad Penn website and there is a link for "Where to Buy". Look for a distributor over a dealer, price will be cheaper. I found a distributor whose outside sales rep. will deliver two cases to my house, for just the cost of the oil! Brad Penn ® Locator

Easiest place to get BP Racing. I buy my M1 VTwin oil from Amazon.

Yup. Amazon.com

Valvoline VR-1 20W-50. Pulled off the shelves here in CA, so I need to smuggle it in via UPS.

I don't want to open the oil discussion can of worms, but I'm a little concerned over sythetic blend vs. full synthetic. It's stupid hot in AZ and I drive the 993 a lot now because of where my new house is. My temp gauge needle is often at the 9:00 position. So I think I want full sythetic. I'd rather keep to a 5k mile oil change interval than do it every 3k miles. 993 oil changes are no fun in a scorching hot garage.

FWIW, when I tried running BP Racing 20W50(?) my temps on the track increased about 20% over the Mobil 1 I had been running previously. My solution, though a bit expensive, is to run M1 V-Twin and all is well.

I've found Amazon to be a reasonably priced source for Brad-Penn 20W-50. I see that have lots of Porsche-related items as well.

That M1 V-twin oil is silly expensive. I'm thinking Redline from OG might be the call, since they have free shipping over $100 and I can always find other stuff I don't need to put my order over that amount. Still, I wish I could find a good online source for Mobil 1. Wayne?

I agree! I tried Redline Racing oil also, but it's lack of detergents didn't sit well with me as I don't change my oil every track weekend...

+1 on Charles Navarro

I bought my engine oil (Brad Penn) & G50 trans oil (Mobil 1 Delvac) from LN Engineering.

yes, after decided to go with BP. At first, I ordered several boxes, then double the quantity, then 1/2 palace, then whole palace.
Watch for group buy from your local guys in this board, if there is any.

Rick,

Beck's (Frank Lloyd Wright and the 101 - near Costco) carries Brad Penn if you decide to go that way. 480-556-6572.

Thanks. I kind of want to stick with Mobil 1, but can't bring myself to pay $7 per qt. Surely someone sells it online for less.

This is a timely post for me, as I was looking for cheap Mobile 1 0W-40 for my Mercedes and also found it expensive both at Autozone and Amazon.

I actually found it to be slightly cheaper in the store even with free shipping.

I might check out wal-mart this afternoon to see what is selling in this part of the country.

I have seen the oil you seek in the $6 range when on sale at advanced auto parts--but inflation may have done away with that price.

I don't know whether you have O'Reilly Auto Parts in your part of the country, but if so: here's a $10 mail in rebate!

I used the Brad Penn website to find the nearest dealer from Montreal, it was Napa in Malone NY. I went down yesterday and it cost me $3.99 a quart for the 20W50 grade 1. What a deal, I cleaned then out and bought all 11 quarts in stock. What cost me more was my wife spending $170 at Walmart on groceries and school supplies.

Yes, but that doesn't soften the pain too much when their regular price is $7.04 per qt.

However, I stopped at a Wal-Mart in Henderson, NV today and struck gold. They had Mobil 1 15w-50 in the 5 qt. jugs for ......wait for it......$21 each!!!! I took four. I am overjoyed now. I get to Vegas at least 3-4 times per year and this is where I'll be buying oil from now on.

Mobil1, or the Mobil1 V-Twin?

IIRC, there's a pretty big difference between the two.
