Need Blaupunkt Frankfurt Schematics or Repair Advice
Hi All -
I have a Blaupunkt Frankfurt US which is not functioning at the moment. Numbers on the side are 7639670, B3541254, which I am assuming are model and serial number. Does anyone here have experience repairing one of these? Anybody have schematics for it? I am not getting light or sound. I have verified that there is 12vDC coming in at the positive terminal, the ground connection is good, antenna is hooked up (is it required for both AM and FM?), and speaker is connected. I will try to upload pictures if that would help. I picked it up cheap 10 years ago to replace the "radio shack" unit that was in there. I am now getting around to seeing if I can actually get it to work. If not, no big deal, it still looks good! Thanks!

Are you getting 12v on the switch input? most blaupunkts have a 12v input from the ignition switch that turns it on, in addition to the 12v supply input.

Thanks for the response. I have uploaded a couple of photos. On the first one I am assuming that A=Ground, B=Antenna, C=Speaker and D=12vDC power. Nothing else is hooked up in any way.
I tried it with one end of the speaker in each C input (assuming mono) and also one end of speaker in a C input and other end to ground (assuming stereo). First config produced some muffled static, second config produced no sound whatsoever. Any help anyone can give is appreciated! ![]() ![]() ![]()

Unit is MONO.
C are for the speaker. One is + and the other is -. Will not matter which. Still no sound??? No static on FM?

Also, I'm fairly certain both speaker wires go to the C input (i.e. mono config) as one of them is connected to ground when I resistance tested it with my multimeter.

Your reply confirmed my post about "mono", thanks!
I am bench testing this to make sure I can get solid connections, so no antenna is connected at the moment. I figured that AM, and maybe FM, would at least produce static, but perhaps I am wrong about that. I'm getting very little sound at all, nothing like I would expect to get out of a working radio. Is there a way to rig up a temporary antenna? Thanks.

Stick a length (3 feet or so) of wire in the antenna socket (bare at end).
You should get some FM noise but no AM.

Nope, AM still gives slight crackle, FM gives nothing. I do hear a promising "thhhpp" sound from the speaker when I switch from AM to FM (hitting one of the three FM buttons), but scanning up and down the dial does nothing.
I did get some excitement just for a second when I thought it kicked in, until I realized it was just someone running water in the laundry room. Next I'll try taking the face off and see if I am getting any power at the light bulb.

A weak spot might be the push button switches. The electrical contacts switch between AM and FM besides the staion location on the dial. I would carefully inspect those switch contacts and possibly spray them with contact spray. You can probably get that at Radio Shack. I would keep pushing them in and out to coax the internal switch baldes to make good contact. If the contacts are the problem you should hear something coming out of the speakers after a while.

Get it setup temporary in the car with a good antenna connection.

Probably a good idea, eliminates one variable. Thanks.
