Beautiful looking car, Rodi!

There are plenty of carreras and SC's around to backdate. I say that one of the beauties of these cars is the fact that they make a great platform for you to do your own thing - hell - that's what the factory did.

So make it your own and have fun in the process I know I have.

[QUOTE=Kaefer;5530958]I've built a lightweight SC:

Anyone know what kind of rear bumper that is? Sorry for hijacking...I too have been contemplating a backdate project and can't seem to decide what to do. Too many other things to do as well, it never ends....:(

Thanks,

Danny

My first choice would be to buy a long hood. It is a buyers market, now is the time. You may get lucky and pick up a driver for <$10k.

My second choice would be replacing the front and rear bumpers, and adding a duck tail. easy to switch back if you ever want to.

Third would be the back date. I think they are absolutely beautiful cars when done properly, but I just couldnt justify the money for just aesthetics. A 'real' long hood probably wont cost much more and you will have 2 cars instead of 1.

Sometimes you just have to play the hand you've got.

The early 911's used to be relatively inexpensive, and therefore almost a blank canvas to express yourself with, and that's how we have come up with so many cool looking long nose cars. Due to the escalating costs and value of the Long Nose cars, people are thinking twice about getting really radical with one.

The new canvas seems to be the SC, and I really like some of the variations out there. I especially love the IROC themed cars, they look great. You can do just as much with a short nose car as with a long nose, and it will look just as cool.

Want to know how to get really excited about your sc??? Put a 3.6 in it and leave it alone.......I sold my 3.6 sc regretted it...just bought a 1987 3.3 that I can't wait to 3.6
In fact I'm gonna sell my 2002 built 996tt and just keep the Carrera. That's how much fun they are mike
