1986 911 condenser fan

My 86 condenser fan went out and was wondering if someone could tell me if its ok to drive about 10 hours without it. I unplugged the plug going to the harness just wanted to make sue it doesn't control anything else. Thanks.

Not a good ides, as the system pressure may exceed
the system specifications.

So even if I don't use the ac I will still need the fan. I'm actually talking about the fan that is in the smugglers box.

Your post specified the condenser fan.

The one in your smuggler's box is your evaporator fan.

Try replacing your A/C relay/fuse.

Just to be clear, the cond fan ONLY works with the ac on. As long as you don't turn on the ac you're ok. You have already unplugged the fan so there is no possibility of power getting to it inadvertently. When you replace it then do by all means install the in line fuse mentioned in a post above.

I fought with my evaporator fan not working several years ago. Checked just about everything and could not find the problem. Until I ran across a blown fuse in the smugglers box, I don't remember where ecactly, but it was under the lip, up against a wall of the box, hiding just out of sight. Replaced it and everything started working just fine.

Now this is an '89, and I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than I could tell you if the same fuse exists on an '86, I don't know. I just thought I'd share my experience.

Hi Opie,
Just open the windows and drive. You don't need any fan on that car at all except the big engine cooling fan. Lots of guys pull all their A/C stuff. You'll be fine until you can address the problem
Take care,
Dave
