Sunroof Alignment Help Please

1980 SC. Removed the sunroof to replace the shuttle on the driver's side, which had fallen apart and was missing the lock-nut. All back together. Now the passenger side is about 1/4 inch (or just a bit less but more than 1/8 inch) ahead of the driver's side. It glides forward in a slightly cock-eyed position and then stubbornly closes shut. It's wrong.

How can I adjust the sides to match so that the sunroof rams home flush instead of cockeyed? I can get it to lock shut by ramming it home a few times with a back and forth request with the switch, but this isn't a good way to treat the car.

Any ideas?

Was just working on my sunroof tonight as well. So take my answer with a grain of salt because mine won't shut all the way on the passenger side without some help. I'm thinking the "clutch" on that side is going bad...not an alignment issue. That is if there is a "clutch".

Anyway, loosen all the bolts holding the sunroof on...on my '87 there are 8. Under the zipper part, unscrew the two screw holding the motor in place. Disengage the motor. Hand slide the sunroof all the way forward so it looks fairly even. Push the motor back into place and screw it in. Power the sunroof to the closed position and push up with your hand to ensure it's in the fully closed position. Tighten all the bolts ups.

Kaliv's got it.
If its anything like my 1973.5T sunroof, the misalignment can easily be taken care of by loosening the transmission connected to the motor via a rubber link. You might just loosen the two retaining bolts enough to just lower the tranny to free the cables. This way the cables for both the left and right side of the sunroof are free. You can either push the sunroof as far forward as possible or to the rear to realign the cables. The roof will easily slide by hand. Once aligned reinstall the transmission and test it out.
Good luck
