That is, at least until Rupert turns it into: "All NASCAR...all the time!"

Yep, I caught it-AWESOME! That rollover looked pretty violent-good to see the driver wa OK. Man, those in-car shots w/the split-screen and the rear-view mirror in the frame were sooo cool-you could see faster cars coming up behind, faking one way, then diving down the other side under braking and slipping past-a great tutorial of Willow Springs, also.
Damn, I wish I had taped that! ------------------ Clay McGuill '66 912, '97 Jeep Cherokee www.geocities.com/the912guy |

I liked the after-dark shots with the Turbo's throwing flames!
And the wreck...Can you say "write-off"? ------------------ '81 SC Coupe (aka: "Blue Bomber") Canada West Region PCA The Blue Bomber's Website |

The winning car was in Excellence Oct 2000. It started out as a burnt out '69 912. Makes me think that the rollover will definately be restored.

Gary, I really doubt that Rick will be bringing that rollover back to life. We looked at the car on Sunday morning, and there is not one straight piece left on that thing. Metal was torn, shredded, twisted and pulled away from every major section of that car. But as you saw, due to the stringent safety rules that POC adheres to, and the building of these cars by shops that support these club racers, Rick just suffered a cracked/broken bone in his foot. (and he is no spring chicken, Sorry Rick!)
Comments on the show: Way to short, you couldn't really get the feel of the whole race and how long and involved it really is. |

I'd agree about the show being too short. The actual coverage of the race probably accounted for about 8 minutes of the show, with another 8 or 10 minutes going to Metwrinch (or whatever) and McKenna Porsche. Sponsors are vital to these events, but come on... Then there were what felt like eight minutes of commercials. It's a shame, because this may be the last time the event is televised, with Speedvision likely going all-Nascar. A little more thoughtful production, and a little more time to cover the race, and it could have been a great show.

Jack,
After watching it, I felt it was not up to the usual (high) Speedvision production standards. It almost had a "home video" look to it. Tom Kendall was a decent announcer, though. ------------------ '81 SC Coupe (aka: "Blue Bomber") Canada West Region PCA The Blue Bomber's Website |
