1980 SC Spedomter issues
Hi,
I am new to this forum - having bought a 1980 911 SC - (3.6 Conversion) from a board member a few months back I have been too busy driving to post a question. But I have one today - yesterday my speedometer developed this issue where once I start the car, or have the ignition on, the needle goes all the way to the far pin - the best way I can describe it is it is pinned (see attached photo). Once I turn the car off the needle goes back to zero. Any ideas what may be causing it? Thanks, Eric P.S. The car has been fantastic and the joy of driving it around town is very hard to describe - so very happy with my purchase. ![]() |

3.6 liter motor but, is the transmission still a 915?
If so, go underneath and check the pick-up sensor and the wires attached to the side of the 915. And carefully pull out the speedo and check the connections in the back. The needle is "pegged" suggesting a fault in the wiring; false ground? No ground? You'll find the electrical diagram for SC's here on the Tech Info Center (Top) and then left side. Even though it's a 3.6 conversion, the rest is 1980? and you'll need the Bentley SC Repair Manual.

Thanks Gunter
The Transmission is still a 915 and I will try what you suggested. I really appreciate your help in helping me fix my problem. Cheers, Eric |

Noticed this post today Did you fix the speedo? Since you haven,t contacted me directly then maybe you already have but If not then you can check the sender wires in the access hole in the back seat area under the carpet. Sometimes the wires become unplugged there by catching on the shifter shaft. Email or post here for more check out steps if needed. John

Well, apparently it's faster than even you realized it would be.
