Ventura show?
I haven't found any info to suggest that the Ventura show will be held this year. Last years was reasonably well attended considering the economy although unusually high winds Sunday blew out the swap meet and sent most people home early. Anyone know this year's status?

Do we know that it's been cancelled? It was scheduled for Oct. 2 and 3.

OK, I have not heard that it is off but neither Doug, Eddie, or Fred have told me it is on. Well, not recently. They tend to be all talk, anyway. The websites for the show are down and the World Class Motoring website only has a poster from last year. I have not heard of or seen any poster from Nick for this year. Even if the show started being promoted right now, any vendors outside southern California would be unable to attend due to the short timescale and prior commitments. Also, most of the vendors from last year were disappointed with the attendance and vowed never to return. The 2008 show was on short notice but the 2009 show had a whole year to prepare but it was not any better. The presentations, swap meet, and car show organization were not good enough quality for their assertions of "better things next year". A shadow of its former self.
The Early 911S Registry and R Gruppe guys have been toying with a club drive/meet. That was the best part of the old show, anyway. If The Ventura Show was on, I might attend if there were no coflicting Early 911S Registry drive, ALMS races on, or if I did not feel like going for my own drive on the local canyon roads. Perhaps if it were only one day it would seem better not so spread out? Anyone can try emailing doug@worldclassmotoring.com, eddie@worldclassmotoring.com, or fred@worldclassmotoring.com but do not mention that you heard me say the show was not on.

Nothing has changed since Max's post. No info from Ventura Fairgrounds either.
Too bad, but it does look dead. On to the Phoenix club in Feb.! |

Pelican was going to start a show this year, but the uncertainty surrounding this Ventura Show, and also the uncertainty surrounding the possible Rennsport Reunion made it difficult to plan. Nevertheless, we're looking at replacing the Ventura Show next year with a Pelican-style event. What that means, I don't know exactly yet, but we're working on it. I hear Rennsport may be at Laguna next year, so we have to be careful not to plan any event on the same weekend.

I would love to see a new show in the spirit of the old Dunkel's show, one day centered on a swap meet with display areas. In fact, that would be in the spirit of the early Pelican days when they had some used parts and could be found out at Pomona every event.
With Pelican in El Segundo, I don't see the show going to far north. However, with the phoenix Club show in North Orange County, it would be nice for our friends up state to get something closer to them and freeway friendly (canyon friendly too!). This makes me think of something out in the San Fernando Valley. Maybe we could get Mulholland Dr. closed for the day. ![]() |

Too bad. I would've gone even with last year's event being a disaster. The weather is always nice (aside from a little wind

I just heard today that IT IS ON for October 3. I don't know who is hosting and my source could be wrong, but I am going to entertain the idea and look into it some more. Love the location, weather is always great, and the drive up is perfect! I don't know why more people don't come!?

I emailed the World Class Motoring site a few weeks ago through their contact link and asked about the show.
No response.

Keith, the ESReg guys are thinking of a group drive around the canyons and meeting at a certain shop in Camarillo for an open house. I am planning on doing that. It was meant to replace the Ventura Show but should not be on the same weekend. I am watching Petit LeMans then anyway. ![]() Afshin, why not come over and say Hi on Saturday. I will be in town the weekend of the 2nd. I will probably go for a drive with my Dad and you we could meet up. ![]()

Really? Talk about burying the real news in this thread. Hope it happens.
