question re: SSI fitment 3.0 vs. 3.2
I have a pair of SSI heat exchangers that came off my '79 3.0 (part numbers SSI 991026, SSI 938513).
I'm not going to be using them so a friend with an '87 3.2 is interested in buying them. Question is: will the 3.0 exchangers fit an '87 3.2? Thanks |

The SC boxes wont be proper to fit an 87 because the SC uses thin flange SSIs and no ox sensor. The carrera needs thick flange heat boxes and a opening in the stainless for the ox sensor.
Proper fitment for the SSIs would be any 911 that is pre 80, not to say you wont need to buy other items to make fitment possible. Bruce |

Thin flanged ended in 1976. The 79 SSI's will be thicks and will bolt to a 3.2. I have 3.2 SSI's on my 80 and it's a perfect fit. If the 79 SSI's don't have an O2 bung, weld one in. They are $3 from Summit racing.
The big difference in the 3.2 SSI's is the extra length of tube beyond the flange to center them into the head. Which is really not needed.
