Question Camshaft selection for a 2.7w/ Weber carbs.

I have converted my 1973 2.4 to a 2.7 with 90mm pistons & cyls., 911s heads w/ 35mm ports and Weber 40ida3c carbs w/ 30mm venturies which I plan on opening up to 34mm. The cams I have now are 14300 & 14400 which I believe are CIS cams and not suitable for this engine. I would appreciate any input in choosing the ideal cams for this combination.
Thanks, Craig.

depends on your pistons. if you went with euro 2.7 pistons, then E/solex cams work great.

Second Johns recommendation. You'll be tempted to use 911S cams. Don't do it. I've raced and street driven with Solex and "S" cams. The Solex are better in every way.

I have 40IDAs and Solex cams on my 2.7. Love it. Very drivable and great throttle response.

I used the euro pistons and Solex cams when I built my 2.7. My car pulls hard from idle to 7100 rpms.

One of my favorite engines was my 2.7 with Webers, 9.5:1 JE pistons, E-cams, SSI's and 2in-1out Dansk sport muffler. This combo just worked!

regards,
al

Thanks for the input, guys. I'll be in the market for a set of these cams, possibly trading up my 911T CIS cams. I have 1 more question - will my 30mm venturies be sufficient with this set-up or will I have to go to 32 or 34?

As a great starting configuration, I would suggest :

34mm main vents
145 main jets
180 air
60 idle

regards,
al

When i built my 2.7, I got these sizes off of the PMO website and they worked very well.

+1 for Paul Abbott. he rebuilt a set of Webers for me.............excellent work.
