Four post lift, width between runways for engine drop?
I'm looking at a lift that has 39.5" clear between the runways. There is an engine drop in my future.....
I've searched about but didnt find a definative answer to the question, whats the min width required to be able to do the drop on the lift? |

Most are too narrow. Best to quiz the retailer and get the dimensions.
That's why the two post models are more popular.

I just went through this on my 914-6, so numbers may be a bit different for you.
On the 914, the max engine tin width is 38". My lift was too narrow but by drilling a few extra holes it was easy to move the non-hydraulic-carrying rail outward. I got it to 42.25". Then I had no trouble getting the engine past. If you have >39" spacing between the rails then for regular parking I would think you should be looking to drill some holes farther inward or it will be a bit of work lining up the car each time. BTW pics also on this thread 914World.com - A Porsche 914 Community / Forum / Club .
