Four post lift, width between runways for engine drop?

I'm looking at a lift that has 39.5" clear between the runways. There is an engine drop in my future.....

I've searched about but didnt find a definative answer to the question, whats the min width required to be able to do the drop on the lift?

Most are too narrow. Best to quiz the retailer and get the dimensions.

That's why the two post models are more popular.

I just went through this on my 914-6, so numbers may be a bit different for you.
On the 914, the max engine tin width is 38". My lift was too narrow but by drilling
a few extra holes it was easy to move the non-hydraulic-carrying rail outward. I
got it to 42.25". Then I had no trouble getting the engine past.

If you have >39" spacing between the rails then for regular parking I would think you
should be looking to drill some holes farther inward or it will be a bit of work lining up
the car each time.

BTW pics also on this thread 914World.com - A Porsche 914 Community / Forum / Club .
