New Owner - FINALLY

After searching for over 3 years I finally purchased my first Porsche. Its been a long (and fun) search as I have drove / investigated / researched and generally debated anything from an early 50's 356 through the 912's, early 911's, SC's, Carreras, 993's and up to 2007 models.

During my search for a Porsche I purchased a Mercedes 300E, a Mercedes SL320 and a vintage Triumph GT6.

The P car search is finally over as in my garage is a 1980 911SC. Its Cashmere Beige over brown interior. 109K on the odo and drives wonderfully.

Figure I have a good fleet - a true British vintage sports car, a high performance sports car and a luxury touring roadster. And for the winter a dependable sedan.

Its not in perfect condition, and as I don't want perfection the car is great for me.

Only one photo so far and it is attached.

Hmmmm, looking at the photo I hope there are no omens associated with buying a 911 on September 11 or that I am about to drive in to a thunderstorm.

200 mile drive home was great and now its seeing what little odds and sods I need to get sorted out. So far limited to minor things - manuals for car and stereo (from a 99 Boxster), cigarette lighter, pop off valve, etc..

Will be stopping by from time to time with some questions as I progress on the journey through ownership.

Only sad part is that I won't be able to have time to drive the car for a month and then our winter will roll in. Oh well, 2011 was going to be a good year anyhow.

I get minimal heat and I drive it through winter. Cool color! Congrats!

Congratulations. Is that the same color as the one that has been featured in the series of Excellence articles?

I believe it is the same name, but have not seen the Excellence articles to determine accurately whether it is the same color. As a note, I paid less for the car than he paid for the paint / body work.

I wasn't trying to do anything special with the photo, but wow the paint looks good in the picture - I don't believe it looks as good in real life. Actually surprised that the car looks like it has a shine in the pics as it was taken after 100 miles of driving and going through 2 rain storms. Like others have said in other posts, don't buy simply from a photograph!!

As for winter driving, the -20, -30 and -40 temperatures can make it not so fun to get out and about. Not to mention the snow, ice and lots of sand / gravel spread on the roads. Prefer to leave the toys in the garage when mother nature comes knocking.

Great looking car and the fleet sound good.

Look and sound like you are in the Prairies?

Very nice looking car. Looks very similar to the one in the Excellence articles: June, August and October. Here's your pic with a slight retouch I thought you might like:

Looks like a nice car. That color really highlights the curves in the body panels. Congratulations!

THANKS MAN!!

That looks a gazillion times better. Wished I was a tad better with this computer thing.

Cleaned up the toy today and went for my standard weekend drive. For some reason the drive seemed to go by real fast Maybe I will need to extend the length of the drive to make it worthwhile.

A couple of photos of the entire fleet (sans 1994 GMC K2500) are attached.

And for the question about residence, yes, I am on the prairies. Medicine Hat in south eastern Alberta is where I presently call home. About 1/2 way between Calgary and Regina, or for those south of the medicine line I am about 1 1/2 hours north of Havre Montana. Kilometers and kilometers of flat straight roads with nary a curve in sight (that's what BC is for).
