abides.

'89 Carreras came with 6's and 8's, which look pretty similar to 9's. They don't look too strange.

had that combo on my '87. worked fine. 9s clear the rear fenders better than 8s.

944 7x16s look like regular 911 6s due to the different offset.

6s were stock on your car. 7s work, but the tires often catch the fender lip if the car is lowered.

I personally think 6's are too narrow for the front. I have 7's with 225 / 50 / 16 on my '78 SC and they barely touched the lip. A little rolling and they were fine. I have TD 17 x 9 in the back with 275 / 40 / 17 and they are perfect. I'm selling the 7's to by 6's in order to convert to 17 x 7 for the front. The car has not been lowered yet, but that's next.

You can always use a 1" +/- spacer on the front with 6x16's, they look great like that.

Nothing wrong with 7" at the front, but I like 6" wheels (and correspondingly narrow tires, within reason) on the front of 911s with rear wheels up to 9" width.
The main reason is the cost/benefit equation: steering feedback in the twisties versus tramlining over ruts in the road when on the highway versus low-speed (parking lot, etc) effort required to steer the damn thing in and out of a drive through. 911s work best with narrow front tires, IMHO. |

Lindy 911,
Could you be so kind as to post a side view of your car? Thanks.

Try this for a side view.
![]() You can see the 17s make the 16 in front look odd. That's why I'm having a pair of 6s made into 17 x 7. I'll post when done. Lindy |
