Powder Coat Wheels Gun Metal??
I have a Guards Red 1983 911 SC w/ turbo twist wheels off of a boxster. What is the general opinion of powder coating them gun metal or flat black?

I think gun metal would look better but that's just my opinion.

What color is the interior?
Is the Targa bar SS or black? A picture would help.

This is my guards red '78SC. I know it's not exactly what you're looking for but maybe you can get an idea of how gun metal wheels might look.

You don't have to go to flat black. There's a satin black finish that looks great on wheels.
Personally, I like the look of satin centers w/polished rim. They look great standing still and at speed............ ![]()

powder coat
Here is a pic of my car. I did not know if these wheels would look good w/ the powder coat vs. the newer styles. If anyone can photoshop that would be cool! Also, is the gun metal just a trend or does it have staying power.

I don't think the gun metal would look good on your car. Sorry.
As far as trends, who cares? Bronze/goldish wheels are all he rage in the sport-compact world but I think they look horrible. It's your car. Do what you want to it. If the gray doesn't suit you after painting, go back to silver. I did. ![]() ![]() Of course, I lost interest in the Cup wheels and the spacers that were required and went back to a factory look.

powder coat
If not gun metal how about flat black. The 17" wheels seem to be too much rim & not enough tire for some reason.

I understand there is a powder coating that turns out like chrome...a very good "copy". Does anyone have a pieced done in this manner?
++++ Not thinking of doing the Fuchs, more like door handles and bumpers. TIA, Bavaria911
