Newbie asks: Any 930 owners out there

Hi. I'm new on this board. I have been reading posts for a few days, and understand that this is SC territory
Myself I'm a blower addict, just cant get enough of that turbo boost.
I have seen some 930 posts. Any more 930 owners out there?

I live in Norway, and the turbo is parked for the winter so this is the time for Pmags, parts catalogs and Pboards. I have been a P fan since I was about 14 (the same year the first turbo came) and I have had a turbo dream since then. Got my first turbo a year ago, and have had 3 track days since. Lots of twisties in the area that I use for evening trips.

HA! See!

Even in NORWAY our presence if felt!

It has... begun.

SC Territory... you damn right!

Piss off with your finicky 930.

Just kidding of course.

We do have several guys with 930s. Definately a car to be lusted after...at least until you need to rebuild that turbo.

don't worry aseem, they are just a small, but vocal minority.

I'm not not afraid of you SC guys. I sold my 83SC cab to get an 88 turbo cab. And please don't respond with that "No, Luke, you have turned to the dark side stuff." I've listened to it for 25 years. For me the dark side is called winter. The car sits for another 3 months.

I'll be careful since I'm new, but it seems from the interests in the "Turbo Kits for 80-83 911 SC" thread that there are a lot of turbo dreamers in your SC community

Welcome aseem! I would love to have a 930 road car someday (it might be the first one I own that has a stereo!). Actually, I love the looks of them and appreciate the performance numbers but I've not yet driven one. I plan to not tempt fate until I can seriously afford one, though.

Oh, the SC guys? There aren't really alot of them on this board. Just a few boisterous, shameless marketers of sleazy, ill-conceived, shoddy, SC-related 'stuff'. Those guys will do anything for .02 profit . Just ignore them.

Let the TCWDP vs SCWDP Wars BEGIN!

Let me be the first to thumb my nose and crank up the boost.

82 930
KKK-27 Turbo
B&B Tri-Flo w/ headers
Adustable 934 style boost
Running 1.2 bar

Grinning the whole way...

3 years ago, I owned a 1984 930, black over black, adjust. boost.....the thing came with a roll cage that I kept in the car while driving around town....woohoo, that was fun...it was mostly stock and a blast to drive..

you get lots of power but it comes later...

I sold the turbo 2 years ago and got an SC for a daily driver...

Welcome aseem
I have an 81 930 ( one of those grey market units that so many frown upon). Not any trouble so far(touch wood) 60,000 original miles. Have owned it for 5 years. Was the car of my dreams when I graduated high school in 81. Said one day I would own one! I will die a happy man!!!

Welcome to the board Aseem

Got my 83 930 two years ago. Since then I have rebuilt the engine(PO had a mixture problem and broke some rings.)and I am now working on the brakes, but can't get enough time behind the wheel.Car now has 112000 miles on it and I expect it to do another 100 or so with little problems.I'm finally getting the hang of the little things that must be done and checked on regularly Winter will be gone soon!!!!!Then time to play again.

Enjoy the board

rscupper, you have "73 RS (testing, testing)" in your signature.
What do you mean? Do you own one?

Aseem, my '73 RS is a clone. Built on a '74 Carrera chassis with original 915 trans. The interior had Sparcos and harnesses but now is stripped of all insulation, and an RS carpet set and cage are installed. The turbo body was removed and replaced with fibreglass everything. The original 2.7 is massaged, carb'd with 46IDA Webers, headers, and sport exhaust (open megs for the track). All suspension is upgraded. All safety stuff is installed.

We're having some minor problems with profiling the distributor, so our first test & tune track day keeps getting pushed back. It's always a week-to-week proposition. But, it's almost done after 10 months!

You know, you've just made me think. The amount of money I've invested thus far in this project is pretty close to the cost of a real '73 RS! Oh, what the heck.
