Need new illuminated '87 key- source?

I am looking for a new/ vintage '87 key, with small light bulb and colored crest in the fob- neither our host nor ********** sell them. Non-illuminated, no crest version spares are easy to come by, not so the lighted one with crest.

Does anyone have a source for these older style keys?

It will indeed!
I searched high and low here. The answer lies in the fact that the link above, when examined is actually a "kit" containing the key blank as well as the illuminated fob with colored crest. Years are inconsistent depending upon how one searches.
Regardless, good to know that a replacement, even in 2 parts, is available.
Anyone have insight into how the 2 parts come together?

Hi, I just bought the head and the head that comes with the key blank. If you still have your key & only the head is broken then just buy the head.

It is not that difficult to replace the head, I used Swiss Army knife, any small screwdriver will do:
1. Pry open the head to remove the battery.
2. With the head now open, you will see there is a plastic part that is holding a small coil
spring (located on the side where you pry open the head).
3. You need to "lift up" that part toward your face.
4. Next remove that coil spring.
5. Then remove the plastic part below that coil spring by "slide it up".
6. Now you can remove the key.
Reverse steps to re-install the new head.
Be careful not to drop a very thin metal foil next to the battery, it is positioned vertically along the light mechanism. You will not notice it unless you are looking for it.

Best is to take pictures before you take it apart. I got confused to how put it back together. Luckily I have two heads so I used the other as guide. Good luck.
