Cams marked "T E" and "0 5", what is that?
Hi,
yesterday I started to dismantle my 2,4 S engine. It was mounted in my 911 E Sporto, and it is actually the last produced 2,4 S engine from 1972. It's a 911/63, for sporto. I measured the intake, and concluded it had E heads, but when I removed the chain covers I discovered that the cams was marked "T E" for the right one and "0 5" for the left one. So the question is if I've been had and this is cams from a T MFI engine? I was hoping for S cams but expected E cams. The strange thing is that this engine was built in 1984, in Germany, where they didn't sell the T MFI engine! And furthermore, according to the PO the car was really fast, and ran very well, before parked 19 years ago. The engine had a 2,2 S MFI pump (-009), E stacks and throttle bodies, E heads and these cams. I mean, with a T cam, E throttles, and a S pump, does the engine even run? Please let me know your thoughts. Regards, Johan

Your post is slightly confusing to me
You discuss a 2.4 S engine , 911/63 , 1972, and then claim the engine was built in 1984 in Germany... For one thing, all Aircooled 911 engines were built in Germany... That's where the factory was. For another thing, either it's a 2.4S engine, dated 72 or 73, or it's not a 2.4 engine...in 84 they only made 3.2 engines with Motronic, or turbo's with, i think , still Kjetronic. T E could mean T , einspritzung, so that would be a T with Mfi, 1973, first half, US It's not to out of the ordinary to see MFI cars with all sorts of components thrown in the mix... unmolested ones are hard to find.
