Kit for reducing wind noise...really?
http://www.**********.com/seal-door-quiet-kit-1965-94-911-912-930-coupe-for-porsche.html
The search function indirectly led me to this, actually led me to google door draft plugs porsche or something.......but I found this which looks interesting. And for the price might be worth trying. Anyone been there or done that?? |
Oh, I see....... well, it's from some other place I never heard of before.......

There is a large-ish rubber plug you can buy that fits into an open drain port area on the bottom edge of the doors .... part number 111.971.911.A ( air draft and wind noise suppresor). Supposedly used after Sept 8, 1987 production ... and still leaves other bottom drains open.
http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/smart/more_info.cgi?pn=OEM-111971911A&catalog_description=Genuine%20Porsche%2 0Part%3A%20RUBBER%20GROMMET The only other thing I can definitely say works is the RUF front roof gutter fill-in pieces along the A-pillar. Makes a big reduction in wind noise ( adds 5 mph to 935's too !!! ) |
Thanks for the backup, Wil. I searched the Pelican catalog last night but just couldn't find that.
I posted the thread in hopes that he could maybe get some other ideason reducing the noise. |
This kit is more than a few plugs, it also has a few plastic moulded pieces that look like ectra add-on trim parts. I am away from my car so anyone's guess is as good as mine where and how they may attach and the website is not very descriptive.
They are from a place called auto_motion??? |
********** are reputable and have been around for a while. I am speaking from memory but I believe they are historically linked to Tweeks/Mid-America and were a good place to get parts in the way back when catalogs were used vs. the internet. PP just kinda smoked them with a vastly superior user interface.
Edit - The name is auto purged as they are a direct competitor with PP. |
I currently use masking tape around my sunroof to reduce wind noise, untill i decide to fix it or shave it...:D

I expect Wayne has the same items -- for less $$ no doubt.
If you cannot find something in the online catalog, then call -- the staff are very helpful and not everything is in the catalog. Long, long ago, before Wayne started Pelican, and maybe before html created the internet as we know it, a husband & wife started a business to provide and sell parts to Porsche owners. They were Porsche owners and enthusiasts themselves, worked very hard, and lifted many stones.* Their business grew and their long er than wide glossy catalogs were found in the garages of many. As they grew older, they decided to sell the now larger business and enjoy retirement. It was bought by a large 'vette oriented company, and service and knowledge by their staff declined, since it was no longer a Pooschey-Love kind of place. * apologies to Neil Young |

Scott Beside the title and the price, nothing shows up when one hit the "more info" link... Now if Wayne approves this, at his cost, I'll fly down to the warehouse, take a picture or two, write something about it, post it and let you use my finding for cataloging purposes only :D;):D Thanks for last night rescue :) J.J. |
