New Pelican -- TIA for the advice
Been lurking for a while and appreciate all of the technical advice I've been able to gather and put to use so far. I also have seen enough 'new user' posts to know that pics are appreciated:
![]() Bought this as a project and something to tinker with. So far I've replaced: -- Washer Pump -- Turn Signal Switch (have relay kit; next on the list) -- Shifter Bushings -- Trans Oil (and drain plug -- will create separate thread for THAT nightmare) -- Air Filter -- Oil & Filter -- Cap & Rotor -- Spark Plugs -- Front and Rear Speakers -- Tires (Bridgestone RE760s all around) -- Door Moisture Seals -- Power Seat Switches I've also checked alignment and re-set front caster / camber / toe Upcoming: -- Door weatherstripping -- Tracking down various electrical gremlins -- Audio head unit -- Re-skin steering wheel Just wanted to say hello, and thanks to the Pelican community for helping me get this far (and thanks in advance for the helpful advice that I haven't yet asked for!). |

Welcome. What year is the car? If you don't have records to say when its been done I suggest you will want to:
-Inspect fuel lines. Replace the fuel filter. -Flush the brake fluid and inspect the lines. -Check the battery for proper charging and no corrosion. -Make sure you have the appropriate emergency items: fuses, relays, fan belt, spare tire inflater...

Thanks for the welcome, all. For some reason my signature didn't show, but it's an 85 w/sunroof.
Joe, your list of additional items is helpful; thanks. I've inspected brake lines and flushed fluid. Battery's good (load tested okay), no corrosion; will probably replace ground cable when I pull the battery to run new headlight wiring. Have fuel filter; that'll get replaced shortly too. Also carry extra fuses, relays (inc. DME), bulbs, tire inflator, and belt. Found nearly everything I need at Pelican; shipping is sooooooo fast -- thanks Wayne and crew.

that sure is a pretty little "project".
I'm sure you have found like many of us the longer you have it the more projects we seem to see that need doing. Good luck and congrats ![]()

Welcome to the slippery slope of a 1985 Carrera. It is an addiction.
