Rapid Turn Signal
Hi all,
I have developed a new little issue with my '87 coupe over the last couple of days. Whenever I turn on my left turn signal it flashes very fast while the right signal flashes at its normal cadence. What's going on? I have tried doing a search but I haven't found anything on this issue. Thanks in advance for the help, Michael

Michael,
In my (limited) experience, I always heard that it was the turn signal bulbs that caused this. Did you check to make sure the front and rear turn signals are actually working? I would also check parking lights, and the emergency flashers to make sure they all work. It doesn't seem like the problem is with the flasher, as it works nomrally for one side. If these all pass, then it is beyond me... Good luck... Craig

Yep, you may have a dead bulb either front or rear on that side....

Hi Michael,
Check the ground wire on your signal light as well. Had the same thing happen to me, turned out to be a loose connection on the ground wire. V.

Sometimes this is caused by the turn signal switch going bad. In that case you will replace the switch in the steering column.

Seriously? This is a pretty common automotive issue. Fast flashing is generally caused by a burnt-out bulb in the same circuit. Check that first and you will probably have your answer.
Of course it could be mystery shorts or a bad flasher but check the simplest thing first. Cheers d.

This has happened to me when the bulbs are loose in the holders.

What he said. Since it just happened you likely have a bad bulb, but using the incorrect wattage will also cause this issue.
