Nicest Gearshift Boot 88 Coupe ?
The standard factory gearshift boot in the G50 carrera doesnt look that good by way of the exposed stick ----- Is their a "nice" aftermarket replacement that is slimline and covers the stick up to the shift knob ?

Actually PP has a nice supple black leather that is very reasonable, requires some fitting.

When I bought my 88 it came with an Eagleday leather shifter boot and handbrake boot. I like it and the quality is good. Later I installed a JWest G50 short shift kit. I also like that a lot. The JWest kit uses a shorter shift rod thus compressing the boot a bit. Hope the pic attaches. I'm no computer expert.

The rubber boot looks best to me, Porsche like, business like...no silly frills....the bunched leather thing looks like an old man before Viagra

Reiver -- The G50 carrera didn't ever have the "rubber boot" ..... G50 had a leather boot but in only came up the stick a small amount.

I replaced my console with a small fiberglass cover, and used the 915 rubber boot on top - you can't really see the shape here, but imagine a 3/4 sized shoebox lid, with a circle 'bulge' where the rubber is, and a slanted front to hold the A/C controls... then all covered in matching carpet.
Really cleaned up the area and let me keep the A/C close by. The 4way flashers and defrost buttons are tucked up under the glove box. ![]() I keep meaning to get by the u-pull-it and find a nice a/c on-off switch to replace the toggle switch... Chuck.H '89 TurboLookTarga, 359k miles |
