&^#$*#&^@%@&!!!!!!!!! Shopping carts in my door/fender

Came out of a store tonight and found two shopping carts piled up against my car.

Not much point ranting any further about it, but I have three more dings than I did before I parked there. And I am sure this in going to cost 100's to fix, besides the fact my car has original paint.

There is no doubt that it was intentional.

I drive this damn car 3000 miles across the country and park in DOZENS of places, and park near my house and this happens. Little bastards are lucky I didn't see it happen. Or perhaps that's for the best.

Coincidentally I picked up an alarm today. I am installing it tomorrow.

Sorry to hear your plight, some people are just so f^&cking inconsiderate/stupid. That is why I never park mine in a parking lot. No matter where you put it, it can be a mile from the front door on an empty lot and some arsehole will jam up next to you.............it is a huge pet peeve of mine.

I feel your pain.

I had 11 dings removed from my pcar by my local DentPro guy. He did an amazing job. All the dents were created before I purchased the car. Now it's nearly perfect and done at a decent price.

The very reason my 911 never gets driven to a retail location, and if it does I park it in the most obscure and far out spot away from the inconsiderate shopping public.

A) If you wish to retain originality, do not drive car as a DD.
B) If you wish to avoid door dings, do not go to a place that has shopping carts.
C) Do a search...

Mine's a daily driver. Over 200K miles. My "work" parking lot doesn't have assigned spaces, but people are creatures of habit and I get the same spot every day between two people who work for me. ;-)

But the thickness of the metal on these cars is impressive. They don't get door dings from a casual bump from a contemporary car with a guard strip on the door. It has to be from a "raw" door or someone with malice.

+1 on the comment above. If it's not a daily driver, park safely and walk the distance. I take my chances in public lots, but choose my spots carefully. No trucks, no surburbans, no mini-vans. i don't mind the walk.

When in doubt - the back row is always available.

Had a 1970 911S several years ago. Just put a fresh black paint job on it and took it to a conference in Miami. Parked as far out in the hotel's parking lot as I could get. No other cars near it. Came out about 4PM and found a ratty white Ford PINTO parked right next to my passenger side about 6 inches from my door! Still no other cars parked in the area. Just the PINTO!! Needless to say there was door ding square in the middle of my door that looked like someone had hit it with a hammer and punch. The ding had white paint in it and the PINTO door had black paint on the sharpest point of the door. Bought a paper, sat under a tree and waited for the other driver to show up. After two hours I gave up. Got my valve stem tool out and removed all four of the PINTO's valve stems and threw them in the Miami river. I figured that since it was a Friday afternoon around 6:30PM in a Miami hotel parking lot that I had rightfully inflicted just a little of the pain on the PINTO owner that he/she had inflicted on me and my baby!!!!

I see it all the time, a lot of people want to bust balls because you have something nice that you worked hard for. I get harassed a lot on the road. I guess they probably think we're rich so they don't like Porsche owners. JEALOUSY!

Both my cars are very scuffy with dreadful paint and it bloody annoys me when it happens, I cant think what it must be like when this happens to a nice car.

Well, it's a good reminder that I did buy the car to DRIVE, and it got dinged because I was out enjoying it. I am not DD'ing it, but don't plan to baby it that much. It's "Just" an old car, not an irrelaceable museum piece..... right?

And as far as parking far away, I did..... any further away and I would be too close to some other place. I was not diligent about the shopping carts but under normal circumstance it would have been fine, but all it took was someone spiteful I suppose to ruin my day. And my door and fender.

Go back to the store and ask to see the video footage from the parking lot cameras last night. These days, cameras are everywhere. If it was intentional, file a police report.

As was mentioned above people hear or see the word/name Porsche and think $$$ but we all know thats not the truth, we're just all car lovers which doesn't need to cost the world, cheaper over there than my neck of the woods though:

I like this revenge a lot - no real damage but fair payback!

I had my beautiful 1-owner low-mileage '88 for 2 weeks, when some fata$$ woman knocked a bike into the RR fender. Left a big dent and a nasty scratch. I was sitting outside at a coffee shop with my attorney, and he actually got up and went inside, because he couldn't represent me if he was a witness to the impending assault. But I just sat there speechless, couldn't even think or move until said fata$$ woman was long gone.

I sat in the far end of a shopping mall parking lot on a very windy day. I was in the Jeep. Any way in a 10 minute span I watched 2 different people at different sides of the lot just leave their cart. The carts stayed put for awhile, the shopper had long gone when the wind "slowly" gets these things rolling. Because of the slope/roll/dip of the parking lot, they both rolled downhill right into the same car.

How often does that happen?

So SCWDP911 where did you find four PINTO valve stems on a Friday evening in Miami!! Probably easier to just cop 4 complete tires and rims off another PINTO in the neighborHOOD!! By the way I was born in Jackson and still have kin there!

+1

This happened to me about 2 days after I bought my 83. I parked her in the back of the Sam's Club parking lot and it was 5 minutes to closing time. My wife and I ran in real quick for a couple of things... walked out of store and my wife saw it first... she said "uh, don't look at the car". so I immediately look at the car clear out in the middle of nowhere and then I spot it... some idiot had half-butt placed the cart in the return bin and it started rolling towards where else, my car. It hit the driver's rear corner. One of their attendants witnessed it. I went to the manager and they filed a claim and a couple of days later, they called and said to get 3 estimates. I did and a week later I had a check. It does not hurt to ask, depsite the "not responsible for damages to vehicles in parking lot" signs, etc... Thank you Sam's Club!

Good luck!

Had the same done recently. Looks great for only 85 bucks.

Wow, no kidding! We are in Northwest Jackson. If you ever get back up here, look me up. You can help me find some new valve stems as that freaking Pinto is still sitting down in Miami!

Yeah, those Pinto valve cores (you did catch the part about the tool and the cores, right?) are rare indeed.

You know what's even rarer? Ford Pinto tire air. Don't find that stuff around much anymore.
