I have a 1974 911 and just moved to Bakersfield. Can anyone recommend a good shop in this area? Thanks in advance for your help.

Well, there's Wilbur who's got a place down past the general store, he might be able to fix you up. Then there's old Carl, when he's not working on his John Deere he's been known to tinker with a few things. If you're lucky his wife will rustle you up some biscuits while Carl works on it yonder in the barn.
Sorry, I've approached Bakersfield but it's like in the middle of nowhere. Best of luck! jc |

How far is Bakersfield from Sacto? (Sacramento to you east coasters.) Probably pretty far, but you might give P&M Automotive in Sacto a ring. John, the owner, may know of someone close to you. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but I'm in Oregon. BTW, I journey 80 miles, one way, in order to get service I trust.

Can't help with a shop, but you're lucky to be close to Buttonwillow Raceway.

Gee, the poor guy is asking for info on a shop near him...any of you Cali guys know of one within, say, 100 miles of Bakersfield...
Or, it must be a "in" thing to joke about Bakersfield? |

Just 4th of July light hearted humor Dad. If you've been within 50miles of Bakersfield you'll get an inkling that this is DIY country, where ramming a V8 in the rear of a Porsche might be considered completely normal:-)
I hope someone does respond with a the name of a wrench that isn't too far, meanwhile I'd be brushing up on my shop skills:-) Cheers, jc http://www.mapquest.com/cgi-bin/ia_find?link=btwn/twn-map_results&zoom_level=3&uid=uaw6u7atq8y3h5rb:2ldw8s0rr0&aphoto=0&SNVData=3mad3-1.fy%28a8x0ab_%29u2wuutg%24tw2%28%3a%28O%12XS% 18ESDMNQ%28Y%12%3a%28%11E%3abslzbx%3d%3d2nh62a5%3a a%3bwh%7c2%24hgv%28l3iedgv%245l1t%3b8&pcat=&zlgif.x=1 |

Ok, here's a constructive thought. Check with GPR Parts, they're not too far away in San Luis Obispo. Talk to Dave there, he might know of wrenches who order from him. GPR Parts (800) 321-5432
