Oil Change ? - Again

One month owning my '82 911sc. Local Porsche guru is telling me i should only be using a special oil (containing paraffin) for my air cooled engine. True - not true. Can't remember the brand .... something beginning with an "S".

We have used Mobil 1 15-50 forever.

Never an issue.

Good luck,

Gerry

What you want is an oil containing sufficient quantites of Zinc & Phosphorus (ZDDP) to protect the engine.

Brad-Penn is a good one,.....so is Swepco.

valvoline vr1 racing 20w50 works great too, and is usually available locally.

Having recently shopped for a case of the brands recommended above, Brad Penn from Amazon was the best value I found.

oilwarehouse.com carries it for around $40 per case...shipping to my rez runs about $25.

How much is Amazon charging to ship a case?

i could only find it in singles on amazon, total for 12 shipped was just under $70 (but i think that may be wrong as the shipping cost for a single quart was the same as the cost for 12 of them). i did some searching and found that Matrix Synthetic Oils - ELF, Motul, Total, Liqui Molly, Luboron and other Synthetic Lubricants. has cases of bp 20w50 on sale for $50 right now with $14 shipping to ohio fwiw.

personally i have a stockpile of 6 or 7 cases of the vr1 from the sale earlier this summer. i should be good for a while
