Ignition questions again (CDI vs DME)
This is purely to help my understanding of ignition systems. I don't have a problem (yet
![]() So, I understand: 1. Points and coil 2. Optical or magnetic trigger and coil And I get both of those working through capacitive discharge. This covers me right through 911s from 65 to 83. So how does the ignition work with DME???? I know there is a crank sensor (or flywheel, whatever) for triggering. It still has a coil. It still has a dizzy. Is there any capacitive bit though?????? If not, why doesn't it need it? And a quick description of the 964 ignition would be pretty useful too ![]() Thanks! Cam
