I would guess just the price, a pretty simple tool. I would get the least expensive.

Thanks. I have always found that quality is expensive when it comes to tools, usually much more expensive. It is not always worth the price. However this is a measurement tool.

Agree on tools in general but this device is one of the simplest of simple. I could fab one in a hour or two that would accomplish same with accurate results as high dollar for no more the $75.

i have a snap-on that still works after 20+ years, but snap-on tends to relabel tools like this that are made by others, so search around.

They are pretty basic. 2 gauges with an orifice in between, and a regulator. Discussed here: leak down test
Mine is a MAC, and has always worked fine. Get one with 2 gauges. |

Thanks for the help. I will look for one that is not over priced.

Check Aircraft spruce or Brown tools or ATS tools for aircraft cylinder leak down tools. Most around $100. For aircraft engines (small displacement below 375 C.I.) the orifice is .040 Not sure what Porsche requires but these should work.
