Question First 911 Cab In Canada???

Any way to check if it's the 1st 911 Cab delivered in Canada.

The Production Completion Date is 27 Nov 82 with serial # 0070 and was plated on the 15 Mar 83 (slow boat back then).

The original dealership, Performance Porsche in St-Catherine Ont no longer exist and Porsche Canada Customer Service is just like most company up here They don't even bother to answer e-mail. No wonder I buy all my stuff (not limited to Porsche stuff) in the US?

Anyway, I called the PCA which refers me to PA who beside trying to sell me a CoA (had to tell her that it would not have this info on it...) could only come up with... we don't keep production number.

I was unable to track down the only personnel name that is listed on government registration listing.

If you got a lower Ser #, please post or PM

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Cheers

J.J.

Does it matter? does that make it worth more? I don't know. With 1000's of them made, does this mean it's the third oldest?
Just trying to figure out rarity in these cars.

Smile Ask, you should receive...

Norber

Great, thank you verry much. Could I ask how did you find out as I don't think that someone are tracking them like you are tracking the Turbo Look. Its just dawn on me that I could have plug the previous 69 VIN in and find out. Now it would be fun to see if # 1 & 2 are still on the road.

James

It does not really matter much. As you know the CAB was introduce at the 1982 Frankfurt Motor Show (almost 20 years after their last one on a 356). Would 1st one in Canada be worth more... only if someone want it bad. Now, I would think that "0001" would especially if Porsche did not keep it

I tough that it was funny that alt east one would be in Canada with such low production numbers. It almost floor me that 0070 end up in St-Catherine (small town). Just to give you an idea as I type there is only 14 dealership across Canada for a population of 35 millions (half of them in Ontario & Quebec) so how the hell one end-up there??? Porsche Dealer Locator - Find Closest Canadian Dealer Listings and Directions

Next step... Tracking them down.

Cheers

It always starts with Car 0061 - first 60 VIN´s of each MJ. are always blocked for testcars ( except the 1989 US-Speedsters ) .

This is interesting. If I follow you correctly, the Cab was a new model, so 0000 to 0060 was reserved for Test car whether they build 60 or not (I'm guessing it includes all testing including Porsche's, Safety's and Insurance requirement's one) and 0061 is basically the 1st commercially available?

What does C36 mean in your post 2 reply:... it is the third for Canada ( C36 ) !

So now you know you have the 10th cab sold to the general public. 3rd in Canada.
Performance cars in ST Catherines used to be one of the most competitive dealers in the GTA. When I bought a car in 86 The 4 dealers in Ont. 3 were in Toronto and Perf Cars was in St Catherines. Perf sold all over Ont and would pick up and return your car including a loaner for a flat $150. I live about 150 mi from the nearest dealer and that was a good incentive in those days. I bought in TO but had Perf do my service (at least while under warranty) A dealer has just opened in London last week. The P car market in Canada is probably smaller than that of Florida

You followed me correctly !

But its the same if no new modelrow was created.
All so called "testcars" should not be on the road - but for the 964 Series i found some - till today none for the Carrera 3,2 - but that is no prove that there is none !

There are countrycodes for all countrys Porsche ever build cars for :

for example C00 - Germany
C02 - USA C03: California
C09 - Sweden

C 36 is the code for Canada, you can decode all those things here : Option Decoder

This code is always shown on the " Underdecklidsticker " before the Optioncodes start.

Actually from the Ontario UVIP, I had the name and the address of Performance Car. So during a vacation to Niagara On The Lake last July, we stay at the Holiday Inn in St-Catherine (always stay there $99 Government rate and never had a bad stay).

So while in the HI parking lot, I punched in the address in my Odyssey GPS... calculate route... Please drive 100 feet straight and voilas. Performance Cars (they have 5 locations covering Acura, BMW, MINI, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Hyundai, Lexus, Toyota, Mercedes-Benz and Smart.

I went in and asked to see the oldest salesman who told me that they use to sell Porsche's. I show him a picture of the car and he did remember the first cab they got in 83 but they had no record of it anymore and could not remember he bough it.

Any idea where all the Porsche records went?

Actualy, it will ve interesting to see if 0068 and 0069 are still in Canada/US. I guess I could spend some money on Carfax and find out...

Vielen Dank!

Doh... for the C36, it escape me and I'll check the " Underdecklidsticker " (which is still steel unlike the front and back) but it was re-spray, and I don't remember it seeing it but I'll take one more look.

The thing that I really found strange is that 3 of the first 10 end up in Canada.

Like John alluded to, our market is very small compare the the US or European one.

Sometimes Canada was a test market. I remember a UCR member having a 944 cab and taking it to the 89? Parade in Traverse City. There they had one on display in a roped off area to be seen but not touched while she was driving around in hers.

Here is what I found doing a pre CarFax buy. Without paying anything, they let you know if the number exist, if not found, they suggest one very close and how many report there is (every change of owner, licensing = 1 record).

As per your above numbers, I started to punch mine and work backward.

Here is what I found. My car was OK but # 0069 had only a close match. The 9th digit was “5”, after a quick check, I notice that the 9 digit is a Check Count for the VIN so it will change. No record for 0065 & 0066 may mean that they were ROW. The natural Check Count sequence of 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 0, 1, 3, 5 seem to break with my car (I would have though a 7 instead of 1) but it might be due to the change of the 16th digit going from 6 to 7.

Of course as you mentioned, I did not find anything for below 0061.

I will spend the $45 for 5 reports and do 0069, 0068, 0067, 0061 & 0060 (only 5 records… low ownerships or may have been scraped). I post my finding.

This is slightly off topic, actually totally off, but oh well. Really enjoyed meeting you in Ottawa at the coffee run. Your car looks great! After I got back to Halifax, had to replace the starter! Thanks for the oil!

Well, did spend the $45 for 5 records but did only 3 records so far;

WP0EA0910DS170061, # 1 Cab: On the road in California, 5 Records (Mar 91-May 2010)

WP0EA0913DS170068, # 8 Cab (1st one in Canada): ??? in Quebec, 8 Records (Jun 94-May 02)

WP0EA0915DS170069, # 9 Cab (2nd one in Canada): On the road in British Columbia, 23 Records (May 94-Sep 2010). All record from the same location (3 battery replacement between 99-01)

WP0EA0911DS170070, # 10 Cab (3rd one in Canada): Mine, on the road in Ottawa, 17 Records (Mar 83-Jul 10). Only on that has records from day one.

I'll probably do WP0EA0911DS170067 (20 Records).
