Tool for Front Strut Insert Nut?

Hello,

I've never seen a tool for sale that is used to tighten down the nut that holds the strut insert into the strut. If my memory serves me right, the torque spec calls for 100+ ft lbs of torque and that would be difficult to do without a proper tool. I have Bilstein inserts for my Boge struts. Anybody have a source or a suggestion?

Thanks, Rutager

I am sure there is some outrageously expensive tool out there that will allow you to get a precise torque measurement. Most of us just use a pipe wrench and snug the nut down tight.

+1
i purchased a LARGE pair of Channel-Locks to do this job. They come in handy around the house too so the purchase wasn't a one time use situation.

Thanks Guys,

I do have a large pipe wrench already, so I'll put it to work!

There is a spanner for that. Generics don't seem to work well. I bought something like this and it didn't work well.

This is what you need, but it's a BMW tool, so I don't know the spacing:

I can't find the Boge tool in the Pelican catalog, but they can get it if you are planning an order.

Here's a photo of the tool I got from Bilstein. Apparently they used to include it with their inserts but no longer. It cost $5 and about the same to ship. 1/2 inch torque wrench fits in the square slot. I put the chrome through the camber plat and hand tignhtened the nut without the dust cover to torque it. Then undid the top nut to remove tool and place dust cover.

Hey I really screwed up and didn't notice the PO had place a washer in the bottom of one of my struts. Now I can't get the bilstein space out and that washer makes my strut insert about 1/8 above flush. Any ideas?
