Computronix DIS6
Has anyone used the compu-tronix DIS6 on their 911. I will be installing mine in a few weeks and was just curious of anyones experience.
If you don't know what it is, it's a self contained coil on plug ignition system. All the needs are incased in the billet distributer, that fires 6 coils. It looks like it will be a sweet set-up. It has 40000 volt coils and an internal timing program, wich should make.installation real easy. I talked to the owner of the company, and he says it's a perfect addition for my carbs. Oh yeah, it's only for carbs. |
Very nice looking, simple install and affordable. Is it programmable
I like the concept, but it is not programmable.
From the manufacturer: "The curve we have is 20 degrees total crankshaft. It begins at 2,000 rpm and is all in by 3,100 rpm. All of the customers report excellent results with this curve. Many say their car has never run as good as it is running with this system. Lew Compu-Tronix" |
i like that it allows .045 plug gaps, electromotive systems are more like .03 only. the twin plug option looks like a good deal. does it only work on a 001 bosch distributer?
DHe told me it would work for my 3.0. I didnt ask about any other applications...
I believe it replaces the dizzy? And coil
My compu-tronix DIS-6 is on it's way. I will let you all know how it works..
Any results yet?

My car wants 34° above 5k or so. This doesn't make sense to me.
Well, a SC distributor makes 20 degrees of mechanical advance with no vacuum, so if you can 'start' wherever you want (like at 5BTDC), then it could be ok theoretically. And "pcar 9119" is working with a 3.0.
Probably not so for cars that want 35 or something. |

I haven't installed it yet. Need to finish the valve job and replacing the head studs...
Reading the install instructions, he says to start 10 degrees.
I installed one in my car....1981 3.0 with 46 PMO. Worked fine for about 2,500 miles. The distributor shaft froze in the distributor body.
I have to send it back to Compu-tronix .....I'll let you know what they say |
