Idle rough with O2 sensor

I have tried to adjust the idle, 3.2 carrera, and followed all of the info I found here. Jumper BandC, unplug the O2 sensor. Idle can be adjusted, but when I plug the O2 sensor in I get a rough idle and the rpm's drop down some. Bad O2?

Are you sure you're supposed to unplug the O2 sensor when you adjust the idle?
I just jumper the idle air control valve... maybe I've been doing it wrong?

thought I had read somewhere to unplug O2? I read to check voltage on the O2, but mine has 3 wires and all I have seen on the here is 2 wire sensors. Forgot to mention, I took off the idle control vave and cleaned it. Looked everwhere I know for a loose vacuum hose.

O2 must be disconnected before jumpering B & C on the service plug.

If it's running rough, it's probably not your O2 sensor...could be any of several issues, but usually a vacuum leak.

IIRC, you test output where the O2 plugs into the harness which runs to your DME. This is done with a VOM (I don't remember the specs offhand...refer to your Bentley). Don't test the white wires, they are "heater" wires.

Well, you were right, kidrock. Found a dry rotted hose. It is call a sleeve, connects the check valve to the oil tank. This place is a bank of knowledge!

Great news, VMAX1. Me thinks I gotta replace that same sleeve....the tinkering never ends.

Now get out and ***drive***that bad boy.

pelican does not sell the part. Found the part # here and called a Porsche dealer. Less than $6.00. Don't think I ever spent so less to get so much results. Amazing what a little extra air can do. thanks again!

VMAX1 12-07-2010 07:55 PM

You can get the part # by searching parts catalog for a Check Valve Sleeve. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1291784121.jpg
