Battery vent tube: Where is the exit?

Where is the hole for the vent tube to the outside of the vehicle? Is it right near the battery or somewhere else (with a long tube needed to get there).

IIRC there is a hole on the bottom of the battery tray between the battery and the fender. Probably in the most difficult as possible spot to reach.

I ran long tubing to vent both the battery and brake fluid reservoir to a central drain point seen in this photo taken while repainting the floor and battery tray area.

If you look real closely, I recall a number of rubber drain plugs that run along the bottom front pan. These plugs have a "big" head on the underside and a small-head on the inside...so they should act as one-way drain valves. Were somewhat hard ti find but if you look closely you'll see these. Try to poke the drain hose thru one of these.

As an alternatice, there are a number of grommeted holes in the vertical section of the trunk /fender inner wall....where electrical wires and harnsesses come thru. In a pinch, with maygbe a little more interference....these can be alternate sources to the outside.

If you use the shorter battery you can drill out the extra battery mounting restraint screw hole to use for a drain.

In the EXACT center of the picture below you will see a nylon grommet with a small hole in the center. That's what I use for a battery drain/gas exit. The car came with a radar detector mounted under the driver's side front area just beside the A/C condenser (could there be a STUPIDER place..?). In any case the detector was of no use so....

Hey wwest, did you put an H6 battery in your Porsche 911 SC? My boss has a 1978 Porsche 911 SC that I am replacing the battery for. I removed the H8 battery that came with the Porsche but now am wondering how to bolt down the smaller H6. The reason I got the H6 is because people on these forums suggested a smaller H6 AGM, however I can't find any info about how they strapped/bolted the smaller battery in.

Sorry for responding to a 13 year old thread, I just can't find the info anywhere else.
