The "daughter project"
It was suggested on another thread to post a little info on the "daughter project". so here goes. It started with this thread
Basically, I am completely restoring a 77 for my daughter. It's a surprise and she knows nothing about it. I have to hide everything every time she comes over (what a pain). The plan was her 30th birthday but I'll be finished much sooner at this rate so maybe her 29th. Most of the parts are at the stripper now and will soon be at the painter. I am working on the tranny now and next will be the engine. Why you say? I am 51 years old. My parents died at 51 and 58. I wanted to do something REALLY nice for my daughter in case I follow suit. Hopefully every time she gets in it, it will always mean something special to her. She's a great kid and deserves it. I'm taking lot's of pictures and I am planning on giving her a photo album of the car when I give it to her.. In case you are wondering.......It was my wifes idea! Current pictures And the daughter: ![]()

Congratulations! I never thought I'd see the words "daughter", "stripper" and "porsche" successfully used in the same on-track post on this forum!
The gift sounds like a neat project! - John

Paul...if you run across any small parts/switches/etc.you need, keep me in mind...I have a 75 targa parts car that I can pilfer from. And I'll donate anything I have/don't need to the cause. Hell. if it ain't big, I'll even ship it free.

I appreciate the nice comments. Jim, generous offer. THANKS! I bought 2 rollers for parts so I think I will be OK. I am not worried about too much except the CIS system. I have not worked on one yet but I guess I'll figure it out like the Motronic (when I get to it)

Paul, that's the essence of being a Dad. I hope to do the same soon for my daughter. It's kind of funny, I have been doing this car stuff with my son since he was two. He now has his own projects and we are doing the SC track car project together........but it's very different with a daughter.
My daughter is 19 and becoming a beautiful young lady, but she is still my little girl. Good Luck. I think what you are doing is spectacular!

Warren's wife speaking:
Very nice Paul. Now she won't be so impressed with a guy's car as "does he appreciate these cars" and on occasion "will he enjoy work alongside my Dad?" Phyllis

I am just going to give her my 1980 SC when she is old enough to drive, in about 12 years that is.

Being a father sure makes you embrace different priorities.
I applaud you. ![]()

Brings tears to my eyes - great project.
I have been thinking along the same lines for my daughter, but the wife has firmly planted her foot on that one. I do have a few years to work at her though, as my daughter is not quite 2.

Damn you. As I get older (52, father of three beautiful girls like yours) I find it harder and harder to be the cool, calm collected guy. Let's just say my contacts just got a little rinsing. Bless you.
