What is this item on a 1982 911 SC
Just purchased a 1982 911 SC Targa and having a difficult time stepping on the clutch because this item is in the way. It’s on the floorboard just to the left of the clutch. What is behind it and can I remove it?
P.S. Love this site, getting a lot of good information from it. ![]() |

Looks like a dead pedal(foot brace). It can be removed if desired. It may be fastened through the sheet metal of the wheel well and these holes would need to be sealed properly.

You might give that dead pedal a little more time for you to get used to it. I suppose it is mostly a racer/track modification, as one tends to use the left foot to help brace the body on the track. Keeps the foot close to the pedal for quick shifting, but not resting on the pedal.
If you have wide feet/shoes, I can see the problem for normal street driving. |
