Early Interior Lights
Ive finally purchased a set of New Interior lights for my 71 Targa. Ive installed them and can get them to both work pushing the Lamp in one direction. However going the opposit direction they dont work - with the doors open.
Does anyone have a pic of the Wiring connections at each lamp showing the color wire attached to each leg of the lamp? Dash light and Targa bar Light Thanks! Mitchel

If they don't work with the door open it is probably the door switch(s). The brown/white wire is the switched ground that connects to the door switch. When the door opens the switch grounds that wire and the lights come on. Check the door switch. They are easy to replace but are pretty simple so you may be able to fixed them. Corrosion may be keeping the springs from closing them when the door opens.

'88 Carrera interior illumination modification.
Our '78 Targa has the same modification. ![]() Ford dome/map light modification, uses 2 diodes for "wired or" voltage supply to both left and right map lights when center light has voltage. ![]() Left and right map lights have independent on/off switches. Passenger's use of map light does not interfere with driver's forward night vision. |
