Windshield needed in Atlanta

Morning,

I need a windshield, with antenna, and preferably tinted at top (is OEM part best?)

I remember reading that you can go with a later style windshield if you go with the later seal? Would a shop do this for you since its "non-standard"?

Thanks!

Called Harmon- they want $575, sounds kind of pricey to me. Is that normal?

They also weren't too sure about why the 964 part would be any different as the part numbers for a 911 and a 964 are the same.

They also said I need to buy the seal as its a Porsche part- so should I order the 964 seal? Do I also need to order the metal black anodized trim piece? Won't that bend upon removal?

Is this not something one of the mobile guys can handle?

Has anyone done this and can give me the part numbers they used?

Thanks,

Had one put in at ABRA on Cobb pkw last year. They were by far the cheapest. Tinted, antenna, can't rember what I paid, 200 - 250 I think.
But by far the cheapest. looks perfect

Bizzarely bad customer service. Make sure you get the price in writing, if it includes the seal and tell them the moble guys can't do it. 4 days to install a windshield, tried to charge me a lot more than the original quote, rear view mirror fell off the second day. Sounds worse than it was, the girl behind the counter had no idea what she was doing. She was very cute though...

The price sounds good, but I'm nervous using a company with those issues!

Why do you say the mobile guys can't do it?

If your windshield is broken you can file a comprehensive claim with your insurance comany,,,,ask me how i know....The price difference is OEM glass manufacturer...versus aftermarket....if you dont care if the glass is a little thinner...and MAY have a wave or two in it....go with the cheap one...although I would stay away from ABRA....try Matthison Glass..

No, just pitted and old, no cracks. Also, Hagerty doesn't cover windshields- or it would be cracked by now ;-)

Thanks- I'll try Mathison!

Harmon is now Glass Doctor- they were the one giving me the $575 quote.

I called Lightning Auto Glass and they have a PPG windshield for $1k! He is calling around to try and find another one for less $$$.

Still need to call Mathison.

Mathison quoted me $1k as well.

Looks like Harmon (Glass Dr.) is the way to go so far.

Hello,

I'm in the market for a new winshield as well, and found this site to buy the glass. I haven't ordered it yet, but you might check it out, they have shops all over the country. Auto Glass by Windshields To Go USA Maybe others can give opions about quality and service.
