Pulls right Under Braking

Last Sunday, a buddy helped me install new rotors and pads on my 1980 SC. Everything went as expected. New ATE rotors and Mintex Redbox pads. After the install, we bled both wheels and the brake pedal has never felt better. The hard lines look fine and the ss braided flex lines are less than a year and look good too.

However taking it out for a relatively short test drive, it pulls slightly to the right under moderate - hard braking.

I am out of town and thinking about what might be going on here and making a check list for the weekend. The new setup doesn't have 20 stops yet and my hope is that this is just a break-in / bedding issue.

So the question is what else should I look at and/or double check? How would one "exercise" the calipers to make sure they are functioning correctly? Any and all thoughts are welcome.

You need to get those bad boys stinkin' real bad before you can say they are broken in. Given the number of posts you have, I suspect this is old news.

Break in the new pads / rotors more, and re-bleed the whole system. Last time I ended up bleeding the front brakes 2 or 3 times before I could get both wheels to lock up at the approximate same time, although that is influenced by corner weights, too. I would re-bleed the fronts, at a minimum. If it is only a slight pull, I would not suspect that your calipers are misbehaving. Much more likely a bedding / bleeding issue.

You probably spread one caliper out farther than the other side and there is not enough pressure in the system to make it lock. See if one side spins freely and the other has the normal drag.

If you can't smell them, go faster and stop harder.
