Bearing help

Pulled the hub off and the race stuck to the hub, see picture. Any thoughts on how to get it off? Thanks in advance for any help!

If you heat the race it will expand off the axle and it should just slide off. Use a diegrinder and slice it nearly through and hit it with a chisel and that should break it loose.

Ewww.

My first thought is to use a Dremel cutoff wheel and CAREFULLY cut into the race. I would have to believe that once you got almost through you use a flat tool to tap it apart or off.

Try the heat first, try and only heat the race and not the axle, if you can get a small pry bar on either side of it once it is hot try and slide it off evenly. If no go, then use the die grinder and split it, just be careful you don't mar the bearing surface of the axle. split it from the end not the top (if you grind a good slot it will split quite easily) Just don't grind through the race into the bearing surface.

When you have the seal race off, grind two opposite notches in the spindle casting (green arrows) for puller jaws.
Next time will be easy.

Carefully inspect the spindle radius behind the seal race for rust or damage.

Remember to replace the O-ring (999.701.084.50, OR 25.3 – 2.4) behind the seal race.
Grease the inside of the new seal race and the spindle under and behind the seal race before installing.

Heat the seal race to install.
Use a pipe-tool to firmly seat the race.
If the race isn’t seated, the wheel bearing adjustment will loosen until the race seats.

Be sure to grease the entire spindle.

Do I see some ‘galling’ (red arrow) on the spindle from the outboard bearing?

Best,
Grady

Thanks for the help all. I was able to get the race off had a death in the family so had to deal with that. I was unable to get the race seal off, it is pretty well sealed-on there. Based on what I can see on the spindle there galling on the spindle. I tested the new race and it looks like it will be pretty difficult to get on. Any suggestions as to where I go from here?
