I've removed the right hand side rocker panel for cleainign purposes (1985 911 carrera coupe).
The rocker panel is held in place by five tappings screws at the top and three bigger tappings screws at the bottom. These three lower tapping screws also holds the oil lines (with a hose and a support (3x). My problem is that when I removed the rocker panel, there were three brackets which are probably welded at the bottom of the car and which are holding the tapping screws. At the one in the middle there was some rust and it crumbled off. My question is: are these brackets welded and are they available and can you give me the part number? Thanks, Kees

Most likely these are not seperate items. You will have to have a shop fabricate one and then weld if desired. If not, I would think the other 2 are strong enough to support this small panel. You might want to check other areas of your car for rust though.

The one you took off is the deco rocker panel. Which covers up the rocker panel welded into the body. The little u-tabs, I think are a part of the welded in rocker panel. If you really feel you want/need the missing one. Have someone fabricate and tack one on for you.
With my welding skills, I'd burn a hole in the rocker panel and make a mess. But I have my Father-In-Law he's an artist. Or the local Blacksmith ( not kidding ).

Hello
Those taps had been aviable at Porsche but the ' is NLA. Most skip the problem by using a longer bolt and turn it up into the rocker. As a fast fix we use a M6 thread rivet. Grüsse |
