car shipping company recs?
I'm debating shipping vice renting a trailer and pulling the car myself during our upcoming move.
Did a quick google, got some price quotes, mostly "unknown' companies. Anybody got a rec for someone they've shipped a car with? Thanks Scott |

A lot of the "unknown" companies are just brokers. They don't own their trucks (and don't typically care about anything other than your check clearing). Try to narrow it down to a nationwide hauler who owns (or controls) their fleet.
DO NOT USE DAS under any circumstances! |

FedEx is good.
But in the end it comes down to the particular driver/operator. Does he park an oil leaker on the top instead of the bottom, does he move the cars alot and joy ride and get them dirty or scratched damaged etc. If enclosed trailer not too much to worry about re weather or overnight parking location

All State Carriers 561-948-0987 (no affiliation) did a great job a couple weeks ago hauling from Il. to Ca for $900 enclosed. They have a 5 star rating on transportreiviews.com

Here good things
Try a company called Intercity Lines. They come highly recommended over on the 6speedonline forum. If you are a forum member, I think you get a discount too.

I can't recommend highly enough a company called DeMoise Trk-ing. They are owner-operated, family owned, frequently in touch with you by cell phone while they're on the road with your vehicle. In fact, you have the driver's cellphone number during the whole time, and can call him to talk about progress, or what kinds of cars he has on the rig. When they were moving my friend's 944 M757, I would talk to the driver, Mike, about what else he had on the rig. A couple 356s, a 68 Cougar. Utmost professional company and personnel.
Website demoise.com; if you call, co-owner Bill will answer to talk about your haul, and schedule it with you. Full payment in cashier's check is due when the car is delivered, not a penny before then. Phone 864-609-9390. I would use them more often, but I have the bad habit of finding cars across the country and driving them back. (smiles).

as others have said, I will also say about thomas sunday, they use only their own drivers in their own trucks, you communicate directly with the driver/codriver and have their cell phone number....very much on time and easy to work with.
my arrangements kept changing, and they had no problems dealing with my changes....price was fair, better than most. I had a bad experience with intercity lines years back, when they kept delaying picking up my car, to the extent that I had to fly out and drive the car home at the last minute. Lewis

And what's wrong with Albuquerque? Why are you leaving? I like it, I grew up there. I had an excellent experience with DAS enclosed, but several on here did not. Last edited by tcar; 05-17-2010 at 02:37 PM.. |

1+ on Intercity Lines. I used them to ship my car, door to door, from sellers home in Michigan to my home in Washington DC and it was perfect from star to finish.
They do have the discount, just go to the 6speedonline forum and you'll see their link. Hiram |

Thanks for all the responses. I got a call/quote from Suncoast Auto Transport (I think they are affiliated with all state carriers?). Anybody used 'em?
TCAR: Moving to ATL for business purposes. 1200 miles or so. Car is on new-ish Victoracers. Uhaul wants $600 for the trailer. Thanks Scott |

I used Auto Transport Quote, car shipping, car shipper, auto shipping to get my 911 shipped form Indiana to NY when I bought it. Not the most glamorous operation, but for $699 shipped to my door, that was hard to beat. Had no problems at all. Have you looked into Plycar Transportation Group ? Ive never used them, but they have some really impressive looking rigs.

+2 on Intercity.
They shipped my car form California to Maryland. It got here quick, completely undamaged, they communicated well and met the time frames they promised. I couldn't have been happier. |
