Front wheel bearings

Hi all Yes I have had a quick look around, BUT CAN'T
find any thing on getting the inner bearing shell off the spline.
Do I need a special tool for the job ? I am replacing the front wheel bearings
as I am replacing the discs and pads. Or can I use a hammer and cold chisel very
carefully ?.
Thanks Steve.

If i understand you correctly your "inner" wheel bearing is stuck on the spindle.

It should come off with little effort, if you are speaking of the outer race of the inner bearing it will require much effort......hammer and chisel to remove.
I have done this and I had to beat the crap out of it.

There was a similar thread recently. I believe heating up the race was the suggestion. You should be able to heat it up and expand it enought to pull it off the spindle. Never done it myself, just passing on the info. Mine came off without problem.

The race will pop out easily with an hammer and chisel.

You will need propane torch to heat the hub up at the rim where the race goes in then press in the new race.

Autozone rents for free the bearing race installer
