Front suspension?

Hey,
I purchased an entire front suspension set up from a '80s era 911SC, it has an aluminum crossmember, for the price I couldn't pass it up. Ok, the bazillion dollar question will it fit my 1975 911S, which has a steel crossmember?

The 911 sc front suspension is identical to the 75 in every respect.

It is possible the struts are a different brand, but that was merely a factory option.

Your 75 had an AL crossmember when it left the factory.

Chuck,
Actually the struts were absent so it wasn't quite complete. I wanted to be able to assemble the front "A" arms to the crossmember using............wait for it............... a set of Polybronze bushings at my leisure. I will be using a Weltmeister through body sway bar and had to grind the sway bar mounts off and drill and weld bushings into the "A" arms. Thanks for the info!

I know this is kind of abstract, but what is a front crossmember with "A" arms, torsion bars, sway bar, and adjusters worth? All stock from a 1975 911.

Not all '75s had aluminum cross members, mine has a steel one and is a 6/75 build.

The steel crossmember has welded on steel straps that bolt to the car. The aluminum crossmember has bolt on steel straps. If you do not have these straps you will need to make or buy a pair. The straps from the steel crossmember will not work on the aluminum crossmember.

Since we are on this subject, I just realized that I have rust on this part from the driver’s side battery leaking battery acid. The rust is about once inch away from where the torsion bar connects and there is a hole about 4 inches long from this point and towards the center of the trunk. The connection is still okay, but it does not look all that great and could turn into a mess in the later years. So I “think” have a choice and that is to either replace the front pan. This piece costs about 175 from our host and I would then have someone weld it in. Does anyone know how much this cost to have fixed? Or I “think” I could repair the piece by myself-no pan welded in and instead add coilovers since it seems that Chuck has a pretty cool system for the fronts. This would allow me, I think, to get rid of the stress point from that area because I would be removing the torsion bars. Does this seem logical, or just stupid?
