Coming soon: Info on where to register for the Targa California 2011.
This event will take place April 7-9th, 2011 .
Sanctioned and insured by NASA, more details soon !

We expect this event , open to 1975 and older makes (yes, the 911 looks like a 75 up thru 89, so you owners are invited too !) . This fun weekend will surely sell out

I attended this last year. NOTHING compares to it. The drive was spectacular, accomodations were excellent, and the entertainment was the best one could have while still fully dressed.
You can bet I'll have this on my calender for 2011.
See you there Dave.

Thanks for the kudos guys !
This is an event held on public roads that are subject to whatever will travel (or lay down) on a street; which might include rabbits, gravel, dust, water (if raining or super foggy) , bicycles, motorcycles, pedestrians, farm implements, cattle (yep in some rare instances) , birds, and other fauna. Oh yeah, other cars and trucks too.

So there are some fantastic lightly traveled roads that we take, where we can have a lot of fun driving. But we need to co-exist, when encountered, with the above impediments to fully open road driving

So the rules for your car are 1) legally registered vehicles that you have insurance coverage for 2) cars must look like they were built in 1975 or earlier. So, for example, you have an LS 1 chevy in your iroc look car, you are welcome. For Porsches this means up thru 1989 911 and turbo. Though a K3 would be most interesting ;-O, it is not keeping with the classic spirit of the event

You are responsible for you, your car, and your passenger(s) and as such should be following the laws applicable to the roads traveled.

There are no prizes, check points, awards, championships to be won. Unsportsmanlike behavior is not acceptable and you will be asked to leave the event.

Gabe, maybe it's time to backdate the Reaper to 1974 2.1 L RSR Turbo specs?

With any luck this will be the year I get Scrufus Dometesticus ('66 Yenko Corvair clone)back on the road. If I fail at that (again) I'll bring the Bahama Yellow '69 that I drove last year.

I'll try to make this one. My birthday's on the 8th, so it'd be a perfect way to celebrate.
