Polishing Fuchs with Dremel Tool

My winter project is to get my Fuchs back to new. I have Bev Frohm's tech article for reference. Was just wondering if using a Dremel with a felt polishing pad was OK. It's pretty small in diameter and I was unsure if this will cause any problems (like leaving behind a circular pattern). Thanks.

(btw, I have a full-size rotary tool, but it's sitting next to my sailboat 250 miles north of me. that's why I'm thinking of using the dremel).

as long as you have all winter, the dremel should work fine.... just kidding, a larger more powerful tool will make it a MUCH better experience

I used a cheap 3/8" 3000 rpm drill from Harbor Freight. I used a Dremel around the valve stem. Worked for me. Ken

I'm doing this right now using 4" buffing wheels on a corded Dewalt drill (2,700 rpm).

+ you'll drive yourself crazy with a Dremel. Get a drill and something bigger.

If you are polishing these then yes, otherwise you'll need something much bigger!

Using the Dremel will be like scrubbing the garage floor with a toothbrush....

I keep my wheels super polished. It is easy if you know the trick.

What I have found is that Mothers works great to polish, but it is a pain to wipe off. My trick is to use Mothers to polish and then water to wash it off. Screw rubbing it off like it says on the directions.
I figured if the Mothers washes off your hands with soap and water, why won't it wash off the rims with soap and water. I tried it and it is the only way I do it now.
I thought that rubbing it off would leave some kind of protective coating, like wax. But it doesn't seem to matter.

I just polish the rims and then wash the car.
What used to take about 45 minutes a wheel now takes about an hour or so for all four.

I love my mothers powerball. I got the one with the long shaft...wait a minute, that came out wrong...

The longer shaft one has a rotating sleeve so you can hang onto the shaft and put pressure on it. I use it in a drill. Excellent on aluminum mags using their mag polish (I have no affiliation, just super impressed.
