Found a set of SSI's that never met reserve on Ebay that the seller offered me for $700. That seemed kind of high to me. I thought a more reasonable price might be $500. Am I out of line?

Through the right sources, you can get them for little above $800, so I would think so. $500 sounds reasonable.

No wonder the guy never sold them! I bought mine new for $800. Even $500 sounds high for used SSI's unless they are in like new condition.

If you use a rule of thumb that a target used price should be 40-50% of new, then $500 still sounds high to me too. I paid around $900 for a pair of new SSI's, installed.

Turns out the SSIs really hold their value. Probably becasue they are stainless, don't deteriorate, and old ones are just as good as new ones. And a lot of people want them.
I bought mine used for $550, with oil lines. I think that is fair price. I am still looking for a set for my '77, so I watch the prices all the time. I've never seen used SSI sell under $500. Early factor heat exchangers go from $200-$400, but the condition varies a great deal since they are steel. ---------------- ![]() |

these don't come with oil lines. geez... if i was going to pay $700, i'd just go the extra hundred and buy new.
i'll see what he's willing to take- thanks for the advice! ------------------ Adam Nitti ajnitti@mindspring.com www.adamnitti.com '85 911 Carrera Coupe PCA member, Peachstate region |

Where are you guys finding $8-900 SSI's? I've been debating about these but I didn't think they were worth the $$ (I thought they were $1-1500) Does anyone have SSI's on a 3.2? I was told that on a 3.2, the gain is at the top end. Is anyone getting low end gains and better street performance with SSI's on a 3.2 motor?

don-
my understanding is that the 3.2 is one of the models that actually benefits the _most_ from ssi's combined with a sport muffler. bruce anderson's '911 performance handbook' has some great info on some testing he did on cars like ours, and it appears as if the exhaust system change might be the single most significant 'bolt-on'-type performance increase you'll see, compared with just going with a chip or mass airflow setup. some one up here correct me if i'm wrong... ------------------ Adam Nitti ajnitti@mindspring.com www.adamnitti.com '85 911 Carrera Coupe PCA member, Peachstate region |

Europroducts usually sells them for $825-850. They dip below $800 when they sell on Ebay.

I've intalled SSI's on my 3.2 89 a few months ago. The hardest thing is geting the heating system ironed out. As far as performance, I went from a cat bypass and Borla, so the difference is minimal from stock. I am alittle dissapointed with the Dansk single outlet muffler so far. Not quite a raw sounding as the previous set up, but I am told it will get louder.
